LandLAB/BNIM was thrilled and honored to be selected for an orchid for landscape architecture, especially as it was the only one awarded in this category!
The Qualcomm Pacific Center Campus was a great collaboration with BNIM Architects, Stuart Engineering (civil) and the Qualcomm QREF team, pushing the envelope in sustainable site design and landscape architecture.
From the Orchids and Onions Jury Panel: “With the transformation of 13 acres of surface parking, Qualcomm has reinvented a palette for southern California that didn’t previously exist.
The jury appreciated the thoughtful landscape design that provides a variety of spaces and uses, noting the regionally appropriate plants, sloping green roof, terraced bio-retention basin and reclaimed water irrigation system.
“Attractive and highly functional, including a variety of fixed and movable furniture, the space is well used and appreciated by the employees. The jury was enamored with the organic vegetable garden utilized by the on-site cafeteria. From the detailing of the bridges, to the diversity of the plants and flowers, it is truly a place where you want to spend time.”
