Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Tracy Morgan Hollingworth passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday August 5th. A life-long resident of San Diego, Tracy’s life touched many people. She touched her friends as she grew up in East San Diego County. Her many activities started early in life, she was a Brownie, a Girl Scout, and was involved with the 4H club of El Cajon. She made a killer “brownie bomb” for the Del Mar fair and won Blue Ribbons every year. Tracy attended Santana High School and graduated with Honors, receiving many scholarships to help with her studies and expenses for college. At Santana HS, she was on the Varsity softball, basketball and tennis teams. Tracy was the consummate student; all her teachers loved her, and she loved them.
Tracy was the Executive Director for the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for over 20 years, and the Executive Director for the California Council of the American Society of Landscape Architects as well. She was also the government affairs director of the San Diego and Pacific Southwest Associations of Realtors; and as consultant to the Otay Mesa Property and East Otay Mesa Property Owners Association.
She graduated from SDSU and Mt. Vernon College in Washington DC where she belonged to Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and received her bachelor’s degree in political science. Tracy interned for Senator Samuel Ichiye Hayakawa in Washington DC and Ralph Nader and also babysat for Gerald Ford’s children for fun and a little extra money while living away from home. She expanded her life experience by studying abroad for a summer in England and traveled through Europe. Tracy also earned her MBA in Public Affairs.
Tracy’s life spanned many decades and important places, from her upbringing in East San Diego County, to the halls of Congress in Washington DC, to the California State Capital in Sacramento, and ultimately her own association management company back in San Diego where she continued her advocacy and policy making but in a different form.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Andrew Hollingworth, Mother Diann Morgan, sisters Mary Ellen Morgan Kinnaman and Kathleen Morgan, all three from LaJolla, as well as lifelong friends Debbie Lehman and Brenda (Schultz) Pample. Tracy recommitted to her marriage to Andrew last March in a ceremony officiated by County assessor Jordan Marks which reinforces her passion for family and friends. Tracy was fiercely loyal to her friends in good times and bad, and friendly and helpful to everyone. Once you were her friend you remained so for life.
Please join Tracy’s family, friends and colleagues to honor and celebrate her life.
