2021 was kicked off with a continuation of our on-going LARE review session series. The focus of these review sessions is to provide LARE candidates with the resources necessary to pass the exam in the least amount of time possible, while avoiding spending an excessive amount of money on study materials, prep courses and potentially having to retake various sections of the exam.
The discussions at these events range from learning about the registration process for the exam itself, to sharing resources, knowledge and experience between EPC members. A major emphasis of the LARE review session effort is to reassure candidates that they are not alone in their path toward licensure, rather, they are part of a community of peers who are on the same path and are part of a greater community within the ASLA San Diego Chapter support network.
The EPC is also excited to announce the upcoming ‘Meet the Fellows’ event, which will take place on May 13 at 5:30 pm. The Fellows designation is among the highest honors that ASLA confers on members to recognize significant contributions to the profession of landscape architecture and society at-large based on completed works, leadership, knowledge, and service. FASLA San Diego Chapter Members will speak about the profession, profile their own career milestones and experiences, and field questions/topics that arise. This is an incredible opportunity to interface with the Fellows within our Chapter who have influenced our community and profession on a truly monumental scale.
Learn more here about the Meet the Fellows event.
Additional upcoming events in 2021 include a portfolio and resume review/informational session (July 21) led by seasoned professionals of local firms, another LARE review session (June 9 and October 13), and a project profile, which will include an in-depth account of what it takes to bring a project from the proposal phase, through design and construction, to final occupancy of the site (dates and locations to be determined). Stay current with upcoming events by visiting the EPC webpage at https://www.asla-sandiego.org/emerging-professionals, and don’t forget to RSVP to our bi-monthly EPC meetings by emailing Erik Rowan (erowan@rickengineering.com) or Co-Chair Gwen Stark (gwen@ktua.com).
Also, be sure to sign up for the group email blast and newsletter. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
