The designers did an exceptional job of creating a space given the modest scope of work and advanced timeline.

Modern Times Leisuretown
Firm: Land Lab Category: Commercial Jurors’ Comments: There is a seamless interface between the landscape and the architecture. The scale is appropriate and there’s a lot of nice detailing that isn’t overpowering and has an organic, almost residential feel.

Sweetwater Bicycle Path and Promenade
Firm: KTUA Landscape Architecture and Planning Category: Parks, Trails, & Recreation Jurors’ Comments: This is a nice trail system that is successful and functional in its greater context. The use of custom signage on this project is unique and attractive.
The Boardwalk at Science Center Drive
Firm: GroundLevel Category: Commercial Jurors’ Comments: The boardwalk element functions very nicely within the context of the greater circulation pattern. There is a pleasing balance between the open areas, seating areas and the paths that connect them.
UCSD Ridge Walk Improvements
Firm: Spurlock Landscape Architects Category: Institutional Jurors’ Comments: This project does a great job in accommodating both pedestrian and non-motorized circulation within a very busy campus. It’s well thought out, well planned, and functions as an integral part of the overall campus.
