Kathryn Kanaan is a licensed landscape architect with over 29 years of experience incorporating the peace of nature into each construction site and allowing it to shine in its community context. She thrives in communicating with the whole design team so the landscape, site and architecture become extensions of each other, collaborations of nature, art and science.
In 2001 she started KDA Landscape Architects and has been focused on providing school campuses with natural areas to play and study in, sources of food and education in ecology, creating safe spaces for all sizes of groups and understanding/respecting maintenance practices to not overplant and minimize plant and irrigation conflicts. While KDA has a passion for education, we also believe in the healing powers of nature, the bond with life cycles and the balance it brings to medical spaces, public design and all communities no matter the size of the project.
