As reported in The Daily Transcript, September 25, 2018, their first design workshop on the proposed Harbor and Sweetwater parks was held on Thursday Sept 27. This workshop is the first of three public outreach meetings offering the community the opportunity to help refine the design vision for the future Harbor and Sweetwater parks.
When complete, the Chula Vista Bayfront plan will feature more than 200 acres of parks and open space within the 535-acre project that includes a shoreline promenade, walking trails, RV camping, shopping, dining and more. The future Harbor and Sweetwater parks will account for more than half of the proposed park space.
Each park will be unique yet connected to offer the community a variety of ways to enjoy and participate in the space.
Both KTUA and Peterson were selected for their extensive urban park and waterfront design expertise. Both firms’ work emphasizes local landscape architecture and natural resource management.
While providing long-awaited, enhanced shoreline recreation and an active commercial harbor in the South Bay, the Chula Vista Bayfront project will also establish ecological buffers to protect wildlife habitat, species and other coastal resources.
KTUA’s Mike Singleton (Principal) and Chris Langdon (Senior Associate) and Peterson’s Jacob Peterson are the lead landscape architects on this project.
